§ 5. Election of mayor.

  • Pursuant to G.S. 160A-102, the Charter of the Town of Nags Head as set forth in chapter 808 of the Laws of North Carolina, as amended, is hereby further amended to provide that the mayor shall be elected by all the qualified voters of the town to serve a term of four (4) years.

    The first mayoral election shall occur in the November 1993 general election and the person so elected shall take office on the first regularly scheduled meeting of the board of commissioners in December 1993.

    The mayor so elected shall have the right to vote on all matters before the board of commissioners and shall not have the right to break a tie vote on any matter in which the mayor participated.
