§ 6-122. Owner responsibility for actions of dangerous dog.
The owner of a dangerous dog shall be guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00 if any of the following occur:
(1)
The owner's dangerous dog bites another person but such bite does not result in serious injury requiring medical treatment costing at least $100.00; or
(2)
The owner's dangerous dog bites another animal without provocation, on property other than the property on which the owner of the dangerous dog resides.
It shall not be a violation of this section if the owner of the dangerous dog can establish that any of the circumstances of subsection 6-121[(g)(1) or (g)(4)] of this Code existed at the time of such incident.
