§ 48-561. Enforcement.

  • (a)

    As provided by G.S. 160A-389, as amended, if any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained, or any building, structure or land is used in violation of this chapter, the town, in addition to other remedies, may institute appropriate action or proceedings to prevent the unlawful action or use, to restrain, correct or abate any violation, to prevent the occupancy of the building, structure or land or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business or use in or about the premises.

    (b)

    The town shall have the power to impose fines and penalties for violation of this chapter and may secure injunctions and abatement orders to further ensure compliance with this chapter as provided in G.S. 160A-175(a), (c)—(g) and G.S. 160A-389, as amended.
